These are my rankings of the uniform combinations in the upcoming Sweet Sixteen games based on overall aesthetic appeal. It takes two to tango, so the uniforms of each team need to bring something to the table for the game to achieve a high ranking. The game claiming the top spot in the rankings epitomizes that.

These rankings assume the below combinations based on the home / away team dynamics and the threads that these teams tend to break out in big games.

1) Arkansas v. Arizona

The air in Arizona is dry, but the Wildcats' uniforms are as wet as a Casey Jacobson jump shot and befitting of the title favorite. On the other side, Arkansas' uniforms, which pay homage to the 40 Minutes of Hell era under Nolan Richardson, are beautiful in their own right (note the Razorback mascot bulldozing through the "A" on the shorts), and look especially sharp on future lottery pick Darius Acuff Jr., who carries himself like the next Kyrie Irving.

2) Alabama v. Michigan

Alabama's "Crimson Tide" throwbacks and Michigan's maize uniforms form a crispy clean combination and clock in at a close second. Alternatively, Bama's crimson set will look just as nice paired against Michigan's all white kit, which is emerging as the team's strongest look.

3) Illinois v. Houston

Illinois' orange against Houston's scarlet is a power clash that works well. Individually, Houston's uniforms are a ten out of ten and the Illinois' orange jerseys with the script font are nearly as strong.

4) Tennessee v. Iowa State

Another power clash, Tennessee's fresh threads do most of the work in this uniform matchup; however, if Iowa State goes with their throwback set, which is a cleaner look than the uniforms they wore against Kentucky, this game would rocket up the rankings.

5) St. John's v. Duke

This uniform matchup between the Johnnies and Blue Devils thrives due to the teams' contrasting colors. It would be improved by the Felipe Lopez-era throwbacks that feature "Thunder," St. John's mascot, no doubt, but we'll take this showdown with two storied programs in their current threads, which play off one another nicely. And Duke's uniforms always look good.

6) Michigan State v. UCONN

You know the Sweet Sixteen uniform matchups are certified wet when a matchup between two blue blood programs is relegated to sixth place.

Connecticut's white uniforms with the Husky logo on both sides of the shorts are classic while MSU's green uniforms are a nut-kicking good (bad?) time.

7) Texas v. Purdue

Both teams have solid, if not spectacular, uniforms and Texas' burnt orange pairs nicely with Purdue's black and gold to create a slightly muted yet intriguing matchup.

8) Iowa v. Nebraska

The Hawkeyes' uniforms are underrated and the Cornhuskers' uniforms (and players) give off Hoosiers' vibes to create a visually pleasing matchup that ranks last due to the strength of the field more so than this combination's shortcomings.
